From February 9-18, the VIII online programming competition known as the “InfO(1)Cup” unfolded in Romania, drawing participants from 135 countries. Among them, Azerbaijani schoolchildren showcased remarkable talent, securing both gold and bronze medals.

The spotlight shines brightly on Aykhan Demirli, a 10th-grade student from the Lyceum named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva, who clinched the prestigious gold medal. Joining him in the ranks of success is Raul Jafarli, also a 10th-grade student hailing from the Lyceum with a specialization in Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science in Baku, who secured a commendable bronze medal.

The journey to this triumph has been a steady climb. Over the years, Azerbaijani students have steadily garnered recognition and accolades in various international Olympiads in Informatics. This success is a testament to the rigorous preparation facilitated by a cooperation agreement inked between the Institute of Education and “Azercell Telecom” LLC since 2017.

Under this collaboration, Azerbaijani students have undergone meticulous training and preparation, honing their skills and competencies in the realm of informatics. The fruitful partnership has yielded remarkable outcomes, with Azerbaijani schoolchildren amassing a total of 59 medals in various international competitions.

These achievements not only highlight the individual excellence of Aykhan Demirli, Raul Jafarli, and their peers but also underscore Azerbaijan’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a conducive environment for educational growth and advancement in STEM fields.

As the nation celebrates this historic triumph, it also underscores the importance of continued support and investment in educational initiatives that empower the youth to excel on both national and global platforms.
