Ferrari has announced that it will personally select the buyers for its first-ever electric vehicle (EV), ensuring that only those who truly embrace electrification will have the opportunity to own one. According to car.news, the Italian automaker will not be offering the model to collectors or customers who are uninterested in electric mobility.
During Ferrari’s recent Technology and Innovation Workshop, the company’s Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer, Enrico Galliera, shared with CarExpert that Ferrari is taking an unusually cautious and highly selective approach as it prepares to launch its first fully electric model in 2026, tentatively named the Elettrica.
“If it’s not for you, maybe… you are not going to be invited. I’m not giving you the car, because it’s not the car for you,” said Galliera, emphasizing that Ferrari aims to match the right customers with its upcoming EV.
Galliera revealed that Ferrari has already started reaching out to potential clients, including individuals outside its traditional customer base. “We are talking with people that are not Ferrari owners today,” he explained. “People from the renewable-energy world, from the tech world, from sustainability — because we believe they can understand this car better than others.”
According to car.news, Ferrari has also interviewed more than 1,000 existing clients to gauge their expectations and to better understand how they perceive Ferrari’s move into the electric era. Galliera added that the brand intends to enter the EV market slowly and intelligently, learning from the mistakes of competitors.
“We are totally ignorant in the electric-car world — and we want to be,” he said. “We are learning from others’ mistakes. We saw companies pushing clients into electric cars before the market was ready. That’s not Ferrari.”
The company emphasized that success will not be defined by sales volume but by the level of interest and exclusivity. “We will measure success based on interest and the level of waiting list we can generate,” Galliera stated, noting that the decision to buy a Ferrari EV will remain entirely voluntary.
Ferrari expects its first EV customers to be passionate brand enthusiasts and forward-thinking early adopters rather than those driven purely by environmental motives. This exclusive approach mirrors Ferrari’s long-standing tradition of controlling vehicle allocations to protect brand prestige and ensure alignment with its philosophy.
Ferrari’s first electric vehicle, the Elettrica, will debut in 2026, produced at the company’s brand-new e-Building facility in Maranello, Italy, alongside its hybrid and combustion-engine models.
