Azerbaijani midfielder Rufat Abdullazada, formerly of Sabail FK, has officially joined Croatian top-flight club NK Varazdin on a 3-year deal.
The transfer negotiations were led by Emil Asadov, founder of Asadov Pro Bridge, who confirmed that multiple offers were received from clubs in Greece, Turkey, Romania, and Croatia. Ultimately, the long-term vision and development plan offered by Varazdin — including the club’s participation in the UEFA Conference League — played a decisive role in Abdullazada’s decision.
The transfer, finalized after a thorough process lasting over a month, has been recognized as the most valuable player transfer abroad from Azerbaijan during the current window. Following his medical in Croatia, Rufat signed the contract in the presence of the club’s senior leadership and has already begun training with the team.
